Angie Najarro – 9TH GRADE

Mt. Nebo Jr. High School

Angie Najarro, a 9th grade student at Mt. Nebo Jr. High, has been nominated to receive the Payson City Mayor’s Award for the month of November. Angie is a positive example at MNJHS.  We couldn't be more proud to have her receive this award from the Payson City Council.

Here's what some of Angie's teachers had to say about her:

"Angie Najarro is an extremely bright, helpful, positive and outgoing student.  In Latinos in Action she has definitely taken on a leadership role among her peers.  She is our LIA Vice President and has attended all four community service events this school year.  Angie also puts her bilingualism to great use.  She is extremely fluent in both languages and is always willing to serve as an interpreter at SEP's and does a wonderful job.  Angie is an outstanding tutor at Barnett Elementary and she is so awesome that teachers will want to keep her as a tutor for the following school year as well.  I know Angie will do amazing things in life, she has a bright future ahead of her.  Go out there and shine Angie!"

"Angie is an excellent example to all around her.  She is diligent in her work.  She was given an assignment which was quite challenging.  When she got the assignment back and realized it wasn't correct, she worked on it again.  Second time it wasn't right - she never gave up, she kept trying each time to get it right, each time accepting the correction she perservered.  I've seen her willingness to help other students who are struggling and has asked 'Do you want me to sit by them to help them?" and she does just that - not doing the work for them, but actually helping them to do the work.  I'm impressed by her strong desire to succeed academically, she's got a desire to achieve in all aspects of her life."

Congratulations Angie! (And congratulations to Katie Solorzano, a former MNJHS Panther, for her Mayor's Award nomination for PHS!)
