STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Student Council elections will be on Friday, April 26th. Students interested in running for next year's StuCo need to pick up an application from the front office. Those applications, along with teacher recommendations and essays, need to be turned in to Mr. Sumens before Friday, April 19th.
PAYSON HIGH SCHOOL APPLICATION NIGHT
On Thursday, April 18th from 3:00-6:00 Payson High School is hosting an Application Night to assist students and parents with the following applications for fall programs:
UVU Concurrent Enrollment (for future 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students), UVU Fall Class Registration for College Freshman (for Current seniors planning to attend UVU), MTECH, Internships, ALC, NCAA, and Sterling Scholar.
DRESS CODE REMINDER
We have been seeing an increase in dress code violations, particularly with jeans with holes above mid-thigh and short shirts. Please also note that clothing must be modest. Modesty includes covering shoulders, midriff, back, underwear, and cleavage. Inappropriately short, tight, or revealing clothing is prohibited. Skirts, dresses, and shorts must be at least mid-thigh length when the student is sitting. Pants or jeans with holes in them must not show skin above mid-thigh. Jeans with holes above mid-thigh must have holes covered.

DR. CHRISTY KANE PARENT NIGHT
Dr. Christy Kane will be speaking to all parents interested in learning about digital media and the effects on the brain. The final presentation will be held on April 15th at Spanish Fork High School at 7:00 p.m. All parents are welcome to come to this informative and important presentation!
MARCHING BAND
The Marching Band Step-off meeting will be held on April 23rd in the Payson High school band room at 6:30 p.m. See Mr. Burger for more information.
CTE EXPO
Come strut your stuff at Nebo’s first CTE Expo! There will be activities for business, marketing, and IT students. This free event will be held at Spanish Fork Fairgrounds on May 16 from 3-8:00 p.m. You get more information and register at https://cte-expo.wixsite.com/business
BOY'S AND GIRL'S CLUB AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
-Dungeons and Dragons on Wednesday after school in Mrs. Stewart's room 105
-Game On on Thursdays in Mr. McFarland's room 104
-Underwater Robotics on Tuesdays & Thursdays on room 400. Talk to Mrs. Bufton or Mrs. Carter. BYU competition will be held 3/28.
-Drama Play in Mrs. Schofield's room 301, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
YEARBOOKS
This year’s yearbook is looking AWESOME!! Students can preorder one in the office for $32. Those that have preordered their yearbooks will get them first thing in the morning on yearbook day.
ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
Please remember that if your student is late to school, he/she must check in at the front office before going to class. Also, absences need to be excused within 2 school days either via email (kirsten.bennett [at] nebo.edu), phone call (801-465-6040, option 1), or in person. Parents are also welcome to reply directly to the attendance emails they receive in order to excuse their students.
POWER HOUR
Power Hour is held Tuesday-Thursday from 2:45-3:45 in room 205. Students can serve detention, work on homework, and get extra help if needed. One regular tardy make up requires 20 minutes of detention and a late tardy requires 40 minutes. Sluffs and unexcused absences require a 60 minute detention.
WEEKLY VOCABULARY
Each week students learn new vocabulary words in their English classes, and see these words being used in their other classes as well. Please feel free to review these weekly vocabulary words with your student(s):
-Indicate: Point out, show, or give evidence of something
-Analyze: Examine or break down into smaller parts to explain what something means
-Emphasize: Single out or show how something is important
-Inference: Guess or solve something by logic or reasoning
-Cite: Quote or make reference to something as evidence
-Elaborate: Add more details to what has already been said
MYSTERY FACULTY MEMBER
Attention students! Periodically, we will include information about a faculty member here at Mt. Nebo in the newsletter. If you can correctly guess the person, and are the first to tell Miss Barber before or after school (or during class break), you will receive a candy bar and 1 free tardy removal.
**No one has guessed our mystery faculty member from last week! Here is a hint for this week. She works in the front office and is one of the secretaries.
-First Job: A little fast food Mexican place in Orem.
-Hobbies: Learning the piano, riding a bike, reading,
-What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time: 4 wheeling, hiking, camping, playing in the ocean, spending time with family & friends
-Who inspires you? My sister Melody. She is always kind, thoughtful, forgiving, friendly, helpful and goes out of her way to do a good deed.
-Pet: We have fish and birds. We had a tortoise...(ninja turtle) but he broke through the fence and ran away.
-Farthest/most interesting place you’ve been: Berlin Germany is the farthest place and it was interesting because the "Wall" was still up. We were able to visit Check Point Charlie and go into East Germany.
-Small things that make your day better: Chocolate, sunshine, the beauties of the world, a friendly hello, good health, great co-workers.
-Advice for students at Mt. Nebo: Dream big; say please and thank you; try your best, be grateful, choose to be happy, smile, offer to help, sing, laugh, dance, remember you are loved.
