Our 9th grade science students in Mr. Wright's class were given a problem to help them not only learn to work together as engineers to solve a problem, but to also use their imagination to solve a problem.  Each group of 3-4 students were given 100 marshmallows and 100 toothpicks.  They were given about 25 minutes to construct a bridge that freely spanned two feet of empty air space and stayed intact for 30 seconds.  It sounds simple, but the reality was that it took some out of the box thinking to get the results they needed. Our students had a great opportunity to learn some valuable skills in a fun way!
