Trevor McDaniel – 9TH GRADE

Mt. Nebo Jr. High School

Trevor McDaniel, a 9th grade student at Mt. Nebo Jr. High, has been nominated to receive the Payson City’s Mayor’s Award for the month of May.

One teacher stated that “Trevor is a wonderful student. He works hard, not only to keep up with his assignments, but to really learn the materials presented. He is respectful and kind to others, helping fellow classmates learn as well. He is responsible and always completes assigned tasks on time. He is conscientious about his work, and he always does an outstanding job.”

Another teacher wrote that “Trevor is a wonderful asset to my classroom.  He participates so well in classroom discussions, helps other students, and is always happy and smiling.”

Trevor has served with the student council this year as a peer tutor for one of our disabled students.  Zander’s teacher said this about Trevor.

  • kindness without thinking of himself

  • always putting Zander first and checking on him

  • a true friend

  • thoughtful

  • smart

  • punctual

When Trevor wasn’t helping out with this student, he would work right along with the student council serving others.  He was one of the first to volunteer and wouldn’t leave until the project or activity was complete.  Trevor is a true leader and an example to all of our students.

“Trevor is one of the hardest working students I have had the pleasure to work with in my career. He strives to complete his assignments and projects to the best of his abilities. He is self-motivating and curious about many different topics and uses these talents to grow in knowledge every day. But the thing I like most about Trevor, is his pleasant attitude. It is truly a pleasure to spend time in his company. I had the opportunity once to run into Trevor and his siblings at a local store. Not only was it nice to see him, but what impressed me most was how patient, kind and helpful he was to his younger siblings. Trevor is truly a great young man and will grow to become a greater one in the future.”

“Trevor is yet one more great kid.  He loves academics to the point that he would spend 7 weeks out of his summer break to do summer school at UVU in a program called Pre-freshmen Engineering Program (PREP), which is a 3 year program if you start from the beginning.  He is a hard worker and very kind student, always has been respectful.  One memorable experience was a discussion with him and his father about why he didn't do his science project which was a major deduction on his grade.  His response was that he was too nervous to present it in front of the class.  No worries, he presented it to me and received the points for the assignment.  Push yourself, Trevor, to do those things that make you nervous.  When the storms of life come your way, clench your fists, put on your game face and say, "Bring it on!"

“Trevor! I am so glad! He is one of the hardest working students I have in orchestra. He always goes the extra mile to help out around the classroom and I never have to get after him for anything. He is always super happy and involved in my class. He is kind to everyone around him. I think he deserves the Mayor Award because he is a natural leader and all around a great young man!”

Trevor is one of the great students walking the halls of Mt. Nebo Junior, and we believe that he is very deserving of this award.    Congratulations Trevor!
