Lauren Voran – 9TH GRADE

Mt. Nebo Jr. High School

Lauren Voran, a 9th grade student at Mt. Nebo Jr. High, has been nominated to receive the Payson City’s Mayor’s Award for the month of February.

One of Lauren’s teachers wrote:  “Oh my goodness, Lauren is the sweetest, most thoughtful, hardworking student I have ever had.  She is a great example of someone who knows how to help other people feel good because she is good at complementing and encouraging those around her.  I love her attitude, her work ethic, and her desire to do the right thing.”

“Lauren has been a very respectful student both in class and in the halls.  She has done very well at helping others in the school and being active in student council.  She will make a great leader as she grows to adulthood, a type of leader and example that will be a benefit wherever she goes.”

Another teacher stated that she “loved how Lauren always takes initiative.  She is not content to just sit back and wait for things to happen, she makes things happen.  When she has a question on an assignment or a concept we are learning in class, she will always ask either myself or others until she completely understands what is going on.”

“I’ve had Lauren in class for a week now and she’s already made a good impression.  She’s in Teen Living in which there’s a lot of discussion.  Lauren is confident in expressing her opinion and does so with respect.  The comments she makes are thoughtful and relevant.  Her work shows that she’s interested in doing well, rather than simply getting it done.”

“Lauren is an asset to my class, she does excellent work on everything and always participates positively.  I know that if I ask a question that the class is struggling with, I can call on Lauren and get a good answer.  I’ve been impressed with the way that whenever she’s absent or doesn’t finish something in class she makes sure to get it taken care of right away and never lets anything keep her from staying caught up in class both in terms of completing activities and learning what she needs to, even if it doesn’t involve getting points on an assignment” according to another teacher.

Lauren has served on Mt. Nebo Jr. High’s student council for the past three years.  As her advisor, I have had the opportunity to work with one of the finest young people I know.  Lauren is always ready to serve, never waiting to be asked to get involved in the activities of the council.  She loves to come up with new ideas and does her best to make things work.  I am so grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to have Lauren as a wonderful leader on our council.

Lauren is one of the great students walking the halls of Mt. Nebo Junior High, and we believe that she is very deserving of this award.

Congratulations Lauren!
