We want to congratulate Mrs. Dinkel on receiving the Crystal Apple Award! The Crystal Apple Award recipient is nominated by other teachers at the school.

Here are some of the things that fellow her teachers have said about her:

  • Always willing to help

  • Works so hard in so many ways that go really unnoticed by many

  • She is an amazing and dedicated teacher

  • She goes above and beyond her work in the normal classroom with IEPs and helping students in all her co-taught classes.  Plus, her students love her!

  • When we had to shut down for Covid.  Trudy would set up her Zoom camera on herself teaching her lesson on the whiteboard.  She has a positive attitude and is always smiling.  She cares deeply about her students.

  • I love talking about pedagogy ideas with  Trudy.  We bounce ideas off of each other about helping our students improve their learning.  She is so thoughtful and deliberate about her instruction plans to ensure that she meets the extra special needs, both academically and emotionally, of her students.  I have also been very impressed that she would do an after-school soccer program for students who really need that time.  Trudy is awesome.

Let's hear it for Mrs. Trudy Dinkel!

Our very own Principal Ryan McGuire was honored as the 2021 Utah Principal of the Year for the State of Utah by the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals!!!

The following is the press release from the Utah Association of Secondary School Principals:

Ryan McGuire is the Principal of Mt. Nebo Middle School, a new middle school in the Nebo School District. Mr. McGuire received his bachelor’s degree in History from Brigham Young University in 2000 and a master’s degree in Education Administration from Southern Utah University in 2007. Mr. McGuire served as Principal of Springville Junior High for five years, as Assistant Principal of Payson High for five years, and was the Assistant Principal of Payson Junior High for two years. He taught Spanish and history at Spanish Fork High for three years, and Spanish and history at Spanish Fork Middle for five years. He has also coached basketball throughout his teaching career including head coach for girls’ varsity basketball while at Spanish Fork High.

Mr. McGuire feels that the best award he has ever received is a hand-drawn picture of a knight, from one of his severe/profound special needs students, that reads, “Mr. McGuire – You’re a Superknight!”

When asked about his personal motto, Mr. McGuire shared a favorite quote, “The two most important days in someone’s life is the day we are born, and the day we find out why.” Mr. McGuire added, “I believe that education helps students figure out that why. I love education and being involved in my community and the lives of students. I hope to make a positive difference each day for kids.”

Ryan enjoys spending time outdoors and fishing of any kind. He is married to Trudy, and they have four children. They reside in Spanish Fork, Utah.

We recently made the decision to postpone our Parent-Teacher Conferences until February 23 due to COVID-19 vaccinations that are taking place at Mt. Nebo Middle School.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and hope that you will still be able to join us by appointment or virtually that evening. As we get closer to that date, we will send out additional information.

Happy Counselors Week!

Counselors Week!.png 1.51 MB

We are so lucky to have the BEST counselors around!

Our counselors work each day to make our school a better place for not only our students but also our faculty and staff. They can be seen in the hallways, at lunch, and of course in their offices. They are always available to meet with students!

Not only do they support our students who are doing face-to-face learning, but they also have resources to help our at-home learning students.

Be sure to visit or send a message this week letting them know how much you appreciate them! Check out their website here!

UVU Stronger Families Project Starting February 8!

Submitted by khristen.massic on
The Stronger Families Project provides virtual family classes to the community focusing on building the strengths and resiliencies that each family already has, and improving their daily family life.

The classes focus on such topics as communication, positive discipline, problem-solving, bonding, and establishing family values and rituals. The program is a FREE community resource to all and is offered to anyone and everyone located anywhere in Utah.

Sessions for the whole family in English are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 6:30-8 pm, as well as a Spanish session for the whole family, on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 pm.

The first 30 minutes of the night will be spent learning as a family, and the final 60 minutes will be a parents only class to discuss specific topics. The program runs for eight sessions and families are encouraged to attend each weekly session so that they may receive a graduation certificate at the end of session 8. A weekly drawing is also held for participants who arrive promptly.

See attached flyer and website for more information: https://www.uvu.edu/sfp/register.php
