6 1/2 DAYS UNTIL SUMMER!
LAGOON & SCHOOL ESCAPE DAY INFORMATION
Lagoon permission slips have been handed out and are due to first period teachers by Monday, May 20th. Students should have all library/lunch/school fees paid. Once all requirements have been met and fees have been paid, students can pay $10 in the front office for the bus ride to and from Lagoon (this will reserve their seat as we only have room for 350 students). The cost for a ticket to Lagoon is $35.00, which will be paid at Lagoon. Tickets can be purchased when the student arrives at Lagoon or they can be purchased online (up to 10 days before) at www.lagoonpark.com/buy-tickets/ (promo code: STUDENTS19). Students will not be able to pay their admittance with a check; they will need to bring cash or their printed e-ticket to get into Lagoon.
There are several options regarding lunch at Lagoon. 1) Students can make arrangements with the lunch staff to have a sack lunch prepared, 2) They may bring a home lunch, or 3) They can bring money to purchase lunch at Lagoon.
Lockers are available for rental at Lagoon and cost $8 to rent (this cost could be split with friends). Students are given a key allowing them access to their items throughout the day. Students will be refunded $2 when their key is returned.
Parents/Guardians/Friends are not allowed to take students to or from Lagoon. All students must ride the bus both ways. Ineligible students are not allowed to attend this activity.
Each student is responsible for catching the return bus from Lagoon. Buses will leave promptly at 4:00 p.m. as Lagoon closes at 4:00 p.m. The buses will arrive back at the school between 5:30-6:30 p.m. Students will need to arrange for transportation home from the school. The school will be closed and there will not be access to school phones or lockers.
School dress code still applies while students are at Lagoon. We expect students to represent Mt. Nebo well and uphold our school values!
If students qualify for Lagoon, but don’t want to attend, they can participate in the Escape Day here at the school. Students will be able to watch a movie, have lunch and treats, as well as many other fun activities. The cost to participate in this activity is $5 and can be paid in the front office.
FRESHMAN NIGHT 5/21
You are invited to come PARTY it up Tuesday, May 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 at a freshmen-only celebration. There will be food. There will be fun. There will be yearbooks (if you've already bought one!) Come and enjoy one more night with all your favorite people from Mt. Nebo.
CTE EXPO
Come strut your stuff at Nebo’s first CTE Expo! There will be activities for business, marketing, and IT students. This free event will be held at Spanish Fork Fairgrounds on May 16 from 3-8:00 p.m. You get more information and register at https://cte-expo.wixsite.com/business
DRESS CODE REMINDER
We have been seeing an increase in dress code violations, especially as the weather warms up! We are noticing a lot of short skirts, shorts, and shirts, as well as jeans with holes above mid-thigh. At MNJHS, clothing must be modest. Modesty includes covering shoulders, midriff, back, underwear, and cleavage. Inappropriately short, tight, or revealing clothing is prohibited. Skirts, dresses, and shorts must be at least mid-thigh length when the student is sitting. Pants or jeans with holes in them must not show skin above mid-thigh. Jeans with holes above mid-thigh must have holes covered.

YEARBOOKS
This year’s yearbook is looking AWESOME!! Students can preorder one in the office for $32. Those that have preordered their yearbooks will get them first thing in the morning on yearbook day.
POWER HOUR
Power Hour is held Tuesday-Thursday from 2:45-3:45 in room 205. Students can serve detention, work on homework, and get extra help if needed. One regular tardy make up requires 20 minutes of detention and a late tardy requires 40 minutes. Sluffs and unexcused absences require a 60 minute detention.
MYSTERY FACULTY MEMBER
Attention students! Periodically, we will include information about a faculty member here at Mt. Nebo in the newsletter. If you can correctly guess the person, and are the first to tell Miss Barber before or after school (or during class break), you will receive a candy bar and 1 free tardy removal.
**Last week’s mystery teacher was Mr. Call! Here are your clues for this week:
-First Job: My very first job was working at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I was 15 years old, and was responsible for helping the customers and working on the register, making coleslaw, and mixing mashed potatoes.
-Hobbies: I love to play the play the piano, write in calligraphy, and spend time outdoors with my family.
-Have you ever met a celebrity? I have never actually met a celebrity, but at Comic Con I got within five feet of Sean Astin, John Rhys Davies, and David Tennant. I awkwardly stared and smiled, and then I quickly walked away.
-Who inspires you? One of my greatest inspirations is a musician/comedian named Victor Borge. He went through a lot of adversity in his life and was still able to smile and find positive elements to focus on. I love that he had a great zest for life and was able to share his passion (the piano) in a unique way.
-Pet: I have two cats and two birds (parakeets). The cats names are Pavane and Nebel, and the birds names are Merry and Pippin.
-Farthest/most interesting place you’ve been: I studied abroad in Berlin, Germany for a month. I then spent a few more weeks visiting other cities in Germany. It was fantastic!
-Small things that make your day better: Cats cuddling on my lap, a sincere compliment, and great music all make my day better.
-Advice for students at Mt. Nebo: Look for the positive! It's easy to see what is going wrong, but life is so much better when we focus on what's going right.
