WEEKLY VOCABULARY

Each week students learn new vocabulary words in their English classes, and see these words being used in their other classes as well.  Please feel free to review these weekly vocabulary words with your student(s):

-Theme:  The central message of a text of what the author wants you to learn/infer in the book. A broad idea about life that can be applied to many different areas

-Apparition:  A ghost or other unexplainable appearance

-Vigilant:  Keeping careful watch for danger or difficulty

SOCIAL MEDIA

We are on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+, and YouTube!  Visit our school web page mnjhs.nebo.edu and use the links on the left-hand side of the page to follow us.  You might see some familiar faces!

MYSTERY FACULTY MEMBER

Attention students!  Periodically, we will include information about a faculty member here at Mt. Nebo in the newsletter.  If you can correctly guess the person, and are the first to tell Miss Barber before or after school (or during class break), you will receive a candy bar and 1 free tardy removal.

****Last week our mystery teacher was Mr. Marziale!  This week, we have a new mystery faculty member to spotlight.  Here are your clues:

-First Job:  I worked at Hokulia Shave ice making.....shave ice.

-Hobbies:  I like playing the guitar, ukulele, and singing. I also love to play sports.

-Have you ever met a celebrity?  No, but in college I went to a "Miranda Sings" concert and it was incredible.

-Favorite thing to do in spare time:  My favorite thing to do in my spare time would have to be play the guitar.

-Who inspires you?  My mom inspires me for raising six kids, beating breast cancer, and for pushing me to reach my goals! I sure am grateful for my mom!

-Talents/abilities:  I can move my Adam's apple up and down (which is cool because I'm a woman.) I also can make an impressive dolphin sound. I've got a mean moonwalk. I was a WAC Champion in the pentathlon (track and field) during the glory days of college, and I held the high jump school record at UVU. Now I'm just a "has been."

-Farthest/most interesting place you’ve been:  The farthest place I've been to is Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. I don't have good travel stories.

-Small things that make your day better:  The Office video clips. YouTube. Ice cream. Puppies. Sushi.

-Advice for students at Mt. Nebo:  It has been a while since I have been a junior high student. The main thing I remember from Junior High were the friendships I made, and the different activities I did at the school, (activities like playing on the sports teams, going to dances, and joining different clubs). So my advice is to try new things, talk to new people, and get involved with what's going on at school. Those are the things that you will really remember.
