Our very own Nan Davis Counseling Secretary/Registrar had the opportunity to deliver 40 blankets to the Huntsman Bone Marrow Transplant unit this holiday season. A very dear friend of hers passed away after receiving a bone marrow transplant. In his honor Mrs. Davis has chosen to have the students at Mt Nebo Jr High help her give back!  Mrs. Davis stated, “Cindy, his wife, had started a tradition of donating blankets to keep the memory of her husband alive and to keep the friendships made over those two years going. She had told me in the summer how low the supply of donated blankets gets, I took the idea to Mrs. Isakson in August of our students making these blankets and donating them. I feel very blessed to have been a part of making people smile!”  The Huntsman Center accepts donations of all kind, These “Graduation Blankets” are given to the transplant patients when they receive the transplant it's the beginning of a new life for them. They have to start over like a new born baby, building immunity for their new body.  Our students involved in The Latinos in Action, Junior Honor Society and Student Council all participated in learning how to cut and tie the fleece blankets that were donated. Thanks to their great advisers; Veronica Solorzano, Rebecca Reber and Coleen Huff.

Seventh Grade

Haley Lundell:  Haley is a hard-working, kind person. She is very responsible about her grades, especially when she misses school.

 Mathew Hunt:  Mathew’s intelligence shines in his classes. He seems to be wise beyond his years, especially with his behavior in class.

Eighth Grade

Michael Green:  Michael is a self-described “grumpy young man,” but really he is funny and kind. His dry humor and thoughtfulness make him a delight to be around.

Stuart Charles: Why should Stuart be Student of the Month? Because he is awesome! I don’t think there is anything he can’t do, and do it with a great big smile on his face.

Ninth Grade

JiaJing Yi: JiaJing is so generous! She used her birthday money and did a fund raiser so she could go to San Francisco for Thanksgiving, where she handed out gift cards to the homeless.

Kyler Robbins:  If you didn’t know Kyler, you’d never know what a kind, thoughtful guy he is. I have never seen him get angry or frustrated. He just does what he needs to without any drama.

The Mt. Nebo Junior High Chess Club just finished its annual tournament and the results are in. Sam Hannig won first place and is our new club president. Dallen DeRosier and Tayden Carlson tied for second and will share the club vice president position. Izaak Walton and Caleb Hayes tied for third and will share the secretary position. We want to congratulate each of these students for a job well done and we look forward to their leadership as the chess club begins to prepare for several upcoming chess tournaments after the holidays.
