Today the Chamber Choir at Mt. Nebo Junior High participated in an exchange with the Chamber Singers from Dixie State University. Mr. Sumens organized the event and was a previous member of the Chamber Singers at DSU. Our students performed two numbers for the university students.  Their director, Dr. Hale praised the Mt. Nebo choir for their close attention to vowels and was impressed with the low notes our students could hit! Next, the DSU singers performed for our students and then all collaborated together to sing "Bluebird". All the students were separated into their parts and worked with the university students to learn the piece. It was a great collaboration and experience for our wonderful Chamber Choir.

They were also able to search for information about those jobs including the required education needed, wages, and helpful high school courses. On Tuesday, March 4th, our 7th grade students had the opportunity to participate in Reality Town. Before entering the "Reality Town" set up in our gym, students received a student handbook and a personalized pay stub which contained information about their Reality Town family including their spouse, or lack thereof, and the ages and gender of their children. As part of the preparation for Reality Town, students learned about loans and other expenses during their CTE classes.

In the Reality Town students made financial decisions regarding their family and monthly expenditures. They visited 22 different businesses that had been set up around the gym including groceries, housing, medical office, child care, etc. which were staffed by parent volunteers, student council members, and school faculty.

With each choice they make at the different businesses, students establish their Reality Town lifestyle and determine their monthly budget. Thanks to our wonderful parents who volunteer, as well as Mrs. Huff, Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Christensen for all their hard work in putting Reality Town together!
