We have a great Latinos in Action (LIA) program and it is currently in its fourth year at Mt. Nebo. The LIA program was started in Utah and is currently in 95 schools. We have 21 students participating this year. They volunteer four times a week at Barnett Elementary and help to tutor students. They also participate in many leadership and service opportunities throughout the school. The purpose of the program is to help students aspire to better their lives through education, leadership, professionalism, and service. Our group has some great role models and mentors and we are proud of their accomplishments! 

We want to congratulation our students that competed at the Nebo District Science Fair. We are proud of all those who attended and all the hard work they put into their projects. The following students have won a right to move on to the Central Utah Science & Engineering Fair to be held in March at BYU: Bailey Kimber, Natasha Hiatt, Eliza Lindstrom, Josh Davis, Jolyn Paddock, Alaina Belk, Kinzie Bigelow, Sarah Rawle, Mason Lindstrom, Seth Christensen, Ally Buchanan,and Giovanni Hull. Two students won further recognition: Alaina Belk took 2nd place overall for ninth grade and Gavin Scholl took 1st.

This week our Hope Squad and National Junior Honor Society are sponsoring a Food Drive. All food that is brought in will be given to Community Action for our local food bank. The goal is for each student to bring at least 3 cans of food. Food can be put in the bins at the front entrance of the school. Please help us reach our goal!

Congratulations to Vicki Hatch who is the winner of the Crystal Apple Award this year! The Crystal Apple is an award given by Horace Mann in recognition of teaching excellence. Mr. White, our Drama teacher said that "Vicki is one of the finest educators I've ever had the privilege of working with. She is so incredibly organized in all of her classes. Whenever I've needed assistance with class ideas, lesson plans, even proof reading some of my Masters degree work, she's been there. She supports all of us at this school. I always know I can count on her coming to see my shows and supporting our students. She's amazing in all that she does, and I value working with her every day!"
